Tournament Format & Rules

Tournament information will be posted on this site one month prior to the tournament which will be located at the RSM Arena.  Teams must have a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 12 players on their roster. All players MUST wear the same colored uniform and shorts. Goalkeepers should wear a contrasting-colored shirt and shorts. Teams with the same colored shirts will be issued colored overlay bibs decided by a coin toss as to who wears the overlay. 

 

Games will be 40 minutes long, with two 20-minute running clock halves and free substitution, and a five-minute break between halves. A one-minute water break at the mid-point of each half may be called, at the Referee's discretion, if the weather is hot. All teams will be guaranteed a minimum of 4 games and winners will receive T-shirts, a team trophy, and pictures posted to this website to memorialize their victory. All games will be video recorded and posted to our Youtube channel. Games are scheduled closely together due to time constraints.  The game clock will start at the scheduled time, teams need to be there on time and ready to play when scheduled.  Sunday League arena rules will be used for the tournament.

Only players on your final league roster are eligible to play in the tournament.  Final tournament rosters must be submitted no later than the Thursday before the tournament.  Rostered players MUST play in at least one of the team's pool play games to be eligible for the Qtr-finals, Semi-finals and the Championship game.  

 

The format will be two Pools, A and B, with four teams randomly assigned to each pool.  Pool A teams will play the other teams in their pool while Pool B will play the other teams in their pool.  The winner of Pool A will play the 4th place team from Pool B in the first Qtr-final, the winner of Pool B will play the 4th place team from Pool A in the second Qtr-final, second place Pool A will play the 3rd place team from Pool B in the 3rd Qtr-final, second place Pool B will play the 3rd place team from Pool A in the fourth Qtr-final.  The 1st place team from Pool A will play the 2nd place team from Pool B in the first semi-final, and the 1st place team from Pool B will play the 2nd place team from Pool A in the second semi-final. The winners of the 2 semi-finals will meet in the championship game.

 

All pool play games may end in a tie.  For the quarter and semi-finals, a tied game will go directly to penalty kicks.  If the game is tied for the finals, it will go to an 8-minute golden goal overtime period.  If still tied the final will then go to penalty kicks.

 

In pool play points will be awarded as follows:

Win = 3 points

Tie = 1 point

Loss = 0 points

 

If teams are tied on points after pool play then ties will be decided by:

1. Head to Head

2. Goal Differential

3. Goals Allowed

4. Goals Scored
